An historic, award-winning, chef and restaurateur driven, full service special event venue like no other in Los Angeles.
Former Cathedral Turned Event Venue
Built in 1876, the Cathedral of St. Vibiana was designed by Ezra F. Kysor - one of Los Angeles’ first practicing architects. Saved from demolition by the LA Conservancy through a dramatic battle with the Catholic Church after the 1994 Northridge earthquake left the building in dire condition, the cathedral was restored and retrofitted by DTLA revitalization pioneers Gilmore and Associates and converted into the stunning event venue it is today, known simply as Vibiana. Los Angeles restaurateurs Chef Neal Fraser and Amy Knoll took over the operation of the property in late 2012 and furthered the adaptive reuse by adding their flagship restaurant Redbird along with 5 private dining spaces in the rectory building adjacent to Vibiana’s grand Main Hall and Courtyard. Vibiana hosts weddings and social occasions, corporate events, non-profit fundraisers, performing arts shows and film shoots.
Hospitality
Longtime Los Angeles Restaurateurs Chef Neal Fraser and Amy Knoll toured and fell in love with the Vibiana property in 2008, spent the next 4 years scheming to take over and finally acquired operation of the compound in late 2012. Knoll and Fraser bring their guest-first, holistic restaurant hospitality philosophy, honed over three decades in the industry, to special events. Along with the Vibiana culinary, beverage and event management teams Knoll and Fraser provide restaurant level service from beginning to end with every detail considered.
